Play Time!

Laurie and I have learned that Kai is a little ahead of the curve. She's been sitting up and lifting herself up from a laying position. She's also flipped over onto her tummy.

Kai is 2 1/2 months old :)

A few days ago, we noticed that her pack and play mobile was moving around. Sure enough, Kai learned that her feet can move her mobile!

Laurie quickly grabbed the camera and shot a quick video and I uploaded it to YouTube to share with everyone!

We'll make sure that there's Halloween video and photos on kaianapopp.com as soon as they are taken. New photos are coming as well!

Sleep... I remember that!

Well, it's been a very long week. Sorry about not updating everyone.

We've been up 2 - 3 times a night with feedings and changeings and early morning wake-ups. Kai's been doing well, being a eating-pooping-sleeping newborn. Diaper changes have been going well and have not affected me at all. We're using disposables still but that's due to Kai's size and we are hopeful that we can go to cloth diapers next week.

Why cloth? A lot of people have asked that. We feel that it's

a) Eco-Friendly

b) Lower cost

c) Better for the baby

We've got these wraps that hold the cloth diaper which makes it VERY easy to use. Diaper pins and Indian folds are so 1970's.

My mom was here Monday morning and left of Thursday. She did a lot of cooking and care taking that was very nice and helpful. Laurie and I felt that we could have handled things before but it's a good thing Mom was here.

Lucy and Bob came for dinner on Tuesday and we had a nice time. On Friday Paula came to stay overnight to do some cleaning, cooking and keeping us company. Lucy and Bob were originally going to come today to help Paula but we decided to have them come tomorrow so Laurie, Kai and I could spend some family time together.

I can't believe how nice everyone has been. I think people are afraid we would be starving. Pastors Kyle and Wendy Haak came over Friday night and dropped off several pre-made meals from Presto Cuisine that look real nummy. Lucy and Bob brought the makings for 6 meals on Tuesday, my mom made two meals and got a lot of milk and other essentials for us and Paula made chili and chicken noodle soup from scratch. Others have offered to make a meal for us and we both appreciate it because sleep deprivation is not good while cooking.

I've taken over 100 pictures since Laurie went into the hospital and have to get them posted. While I am a web designer, I need to figure out a better way of sharing these photos in a timely fashion. Heck, I have not even gotten the print-quality ones up on www.kaianapopp.com for download.

Managed to get some work done for clients this week and even got a new client as well with a 2 week deadline.

Oh - last thing. Kai LOVES to go for rides. We found this out on Thursday when she went to her first doctor's appointment. Everything went well at the appointment and there's no change in length or weight. According to the doc, babies lose a little weight in the first week after being born but this is good since her size is small.

Kai's First Video!

Kai's 2nd day!

Kai and Laurie are doing great! We had Grandma Lucy and Grandpa Bob here, and Great Uncle Roger and Great Aunt Bonnie came from Nebraska to visit as well. As I mentioned earlier, Kenton also stopped by. Aunt Paula was also here but has gone home to Iowa.

We got a BEAUTIFUL bouquet of flowers and a balloon from the folks at the Event Center here in Rochester. They are one of my clients and we are just thrilled that they care - it caught us both by surprise!

Aunt Bonnie brought 5 sleepers as a baby gift, and yesterday Aunt Paula gave Kai a bear with a star from the International Star Registry. It's not a Classic Winnie The Pooh, but it's still cute!

After Kai is done feeding in a few, Laurie and I are going to open the Baby Fortune Cookies that Karen and Kevin gave us. We'll be sure to share those fortunes!

I have taken a few pictures today but will wait a bit to upload them to the kaianapopp.com site. To be honest, I am still trying to catch up on my rest as is Laurie. In fact, Laurie and Kai have fallen asleep together a few times today - it's sooooo cute!

Looking forward to Grandma Jan's visit tomorrow.

Room Correction

Laurie's Room is Eisenberg 3-224

I forgot the 3, which indicates 3rd floor. Kenton stopped by earlier and went to the 2nd floor because of the 2 in the room number!

Pictures and our first day!

Hi all!

I've got 24 pictures up on www.kaianapopp.com just waiting to be viewed. I will be putting them up on that site for download later tonight or tomorrow. Laurie and I have been real tired and have been napping here and there.

We're in Ei-224 and if you want to visit, you can but we don't want to have everyone come on one day so please consider Sunday as well as Saturday.

Also, I have had a few emails about registries. We're at Target and Wal-Mart. Just look up Laurie Popp and August for the baby birth month.

From the LJ Feed

Something funky happened with the blog, so Laura provided updates on Chris's LiveJournal in the meantime.

Fully Dialated

We're fully dialated now, and we'll be pushing at about 10:00 - 10:15 pm CDT. The baby is up high still at the moment, but instead of pushing now, we're going to be letting the baby drop naturally during this next half hour - 45 minutes. This will conserve Laurie's energy.

Paula is massaging her back and I have been talking to her and holding her hand.

If I don't post for the next 45 mins or so, please forgive me.

"We're Pretty close"

She's being told that she has to breathe thru the pain (which is a 7) which means that the body is stretching.
